Yikes, I have been goooone from blogging. Too many other things got in the way, I suppose, which isn’t an excuse – I started this blog for a reason, and I am getting back on the wagon with being diligent about posting.
So! On that note, the main focus for the past few weeks has been Getting Out of the Basement. The husband and I are now officially gone from our old apartment of dank and mold and onto a really, really lovely place about 20 minutes south. I’m thrilled with how it’s been so far – a much better space, much better energy, and I finally – FINALLY – don’t smell like a basement.
The move went very smoothly, thanks to some friend-volunteers who were rewarded with pizza and wings. 🙂 I spent pretty much all of Halloween unpacking and organizing, which was exhausting, but oddly enough, I really like the unpacking part of the moving process. Setting up a new place exactly how I want it has always been fun for me.
Anyway, here are a few pics (not taken with the nice camera like I wanted…Ed has it in Professional Photographer Mode, set to take pics in the raw and I haven’t the patience to figure out a) how to get it off that mode or b) convert the files to manageable sizes. So, Blackberry pics it is):
I really like our living area now – very cozy. The light quality is good, too. You can’t really tell, but our friend’s cactus that we are keeping for her is on that stand, and I feel like the thing has spread out sooo much since we moved. Even the plants are happier here.
We have an aweeeesome breakfast bar in the kitchen, and a ton more counter space and cabinet space than the last place. This is probably my favorite part of the apartment. I love that I can be making dinner and looking out into the living room. It’s going to be a good entertaining space, too. 🙂
This is where I do all my work all day, which is 30953406 better than my coffee table, let me tell you. We’ve also taken to eating dinner here, at least for the time being. We have a dining area off to the right in this pic that we’ll be putting a dining table in soon.
Right now, it’s the laundry + books room, but somewhere down the line we’ll get a nice desk and chaise lounge chair or something to go here.
It’s just an apartment, but I’m psyched because this is where I plan on spending my time until we’re ready to buy a house, so it’s no small thing that I love it. I am so. tired. of moving. And I’ve always been someone who is very particular about her space…everything has to have a clean, smooth feel to it, good light is critical, and it has to flow right, I guess. Anyone else like this?
Onward to being a happy hostess!
